About the Role

As a City Carrier Assistant, you serve as the backbone of last-mile mail delivery in urban and suburban communities. You will sort and prepare mail at the post office, then deliver it along your assigned city route. Routes are walked or driven depending on the area, and you will interact with residents and business customers daily.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Deliver mail and packages along an assigned city route on foot or by postal vehicle
  • Sort incoming mail at the post office before starting your route
  • Collect outgoing mail from customers and collection boxes
  • Maintain accurate records of postage due and special delivery items
  • Provide customer service to residents and businesses along the route
  • Work weekdays, weekends, and federal holidays as assigned
  • Lift and carry mail sacks and parcels up to 70 lbs
  • Report vehicle accidents, route issues, or safety concerns to supervisors
  • Follow all postal regulations and delivery standards
