About the Role

As a Cyber Threat Analyst at the CIA, you will analyze foreign cyber intentions and capabilities to directly support US national security interests. You will identify, monitor, and counter threats against US information systems and critical infrastructure, then brief senior US policymakers on your findings.

This is not a typical IT security role — it is an intelligence career. You will produce both tactical and strategic written assessments, work alongside the broader Intelligence Community, and contribute directly to decisions made at the highest levels of the US government.


Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Monitor global cyber threat trends affecting US government systems and critical infrastructure
  • Analyze classified intelligence from CIA collectors worldwide on cyber-related topics
  • Identify new cyber threat patterns and consolidate reporting into finished intelligence products
  • Draft and publish tactical and strategic cybersecurity assessments for senior policymakers
  • Brief US government decision-makers on active and emerging cyber threats
  • Map threats to MITRE ATT&CK techniques and known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs)
  • Collaborate with Intelligence Community partners across DHS, NSA, FBI, and DoD
  • Participate in foreign and domestic travel assignments as required
  • Receive tradecraft and leadership training to develop expertise over time

Experience Requirements by Grade

  • Security Clearance: Must be able to obtain and maintain Top Secret/SCI clearance

  • Foreign Language Skills: Highly desirable but not required
