About the Role

As a Supply Management Specialist at DLA Distribution Susquehanna, you will be a critical contributor to the Department of Defense’s global supply chain — ensuring that military servicemembers and federal agencies have the materials, equipment, and supplies they need, when they need them, wherever they are in the world.

DLA Distribution Susquehanna in New Cumberland, Pennsylvania is the headquarters of DLA Distribution — the DoD’s primary joint storage and distribution command. The facility receives, stores, issues, and ships millions of supply items annually in support of all US military branches. Your work directly enables warfighter readiness and national defense preparedness.

This position sits within the GS-2003 Supply Program Management series and focuses on monitoring depot supply performance, conducting material management studies, and ensuring the most effective use of DoD supply resources.


Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Monitor Depot performance for trends in supply availability, requisition fulfillment, and material readiness — identifying issues before they impact military operations
  • Assist in planning and developing studies of the material management program to assess effectiveness and efficiency of supply operations
  • Conduct analyses and studies to determine the most effective use of resources across DLA supply programs
  • Maintain accountability records and tracking systems for supply assets within assigned program area
  • Determine parts supportability across all sources of supply for established and projected workloads
  • Monitor cross-agency sources of supply to ensure assets are available for issue when required; execute lateral support transactions to alleviate work-stop inducing unfilled orders
  • Identify and recommend use of approved alternative sources of supply when primary sources are unavailable
  • Facilitate resolution of routine customer issues arising during fulfillment of requisitions from military units and federal agencies
  • Prepare and present reports, briefings, and recommendations to supervisors and program managers on supply program status
  • Utilize DLA’s Distribution Standard System (DSS) and related enterprise logistics systems to track orders, shipments, and inventory
  • Collaborate with military service representatives, contracting officers, and vendors to resolve supply chain disruptions
  • Support DLA Distribution’s Warehouse Management System (WMS) modernization and sustainment initiatives
